THE “OLYMPIC” GAMES


ACT 1 THE HISTORY (3 BOYS, 2 GIRLS)
Narrator: Good morning!!! And welcome to our play the “Olympic Games”…when nations compete against each other, in the most sporting manner. Let’s go back in 776BC when only the best male athletes from across Ancient Greece competed, and first place winners received a crown made from olive branches.
Zeus: I’m Zeus the God of the Gods!!! Cupid I have an idea….There should be a game event in my Honor…It should last 5 days for 7 events….and NO WOMEN!!!
Cupid: Zeus, please…Do you really have to be all that arrogant? You are already the Supreme God….you should spread peace and love….everywhere…like…. me…
Athena: What do you mean NO WOMEN???????? Not only arrogant but sexist!! This is it!! You are not getting your way this time…..we’ll do things MY way…..
Hera: Come on Athena, don’t be so feisty! Don’t you see that Zeus is the great one with the great idea? Zeus…. I have to say …you are soooo smart. And cute…
Zeus: Yeah yeah…whatever… Athena, men are men and women are women!!!!! Women don’t play games, so don’t cross the line!!
Cupid: Guys, stop fighting! You two sound like a tired married couple….It’s soooo sad!!!! Remember …. you should spread peace and love….everywhere…like…. me…LOVE IS IN THE AIR……
Athena: PLEASE!!! Stop with the cheesy songs...You will see “Mighty Zeus” these games are going to be played every four years, and women and men will have the same right to compete, and not only here in Olympia, but everywhere!
Hera: Athena please!! Calm down! He’s indeed the Mighty Zeus. He could turn his rage against you girl!! Zeus, once again, I can’t believe how intelligent you are!!!! And cute!!!
Zeus: Come on!! Stop bothering me, I already have seven wives, I don’t need another one, they are too expensive!! I’m out of here….
(All Gods leave the room but Cupid)
Cupid (alone) Love is not in the air, after all……






ACT II THE OPENING CEREMONY (ALL)
REPORTER 1: Good evening everyone all over the world…. Welcome to the fifth grade “Olympic” games… We are live, broadcasting from Colegio Simon Bolivar II in the first edition of the Olympic Games in South America.
REPORTER 2: Yes… this is so exciting! The lights, the parade, the athletes… OMG they are so handsome.
REPORTER 1: Please (name) FOCUS! And now all the athletes are making their entrance to the arena. You can see sport stars like Serena Williams, Ruben Limardo, Usain Bolt, Neymar, Michael Phelps, and so many others!!!
REPORTER 2: OMG, I  ... CAN… DIE!!!!!..... can I take a selfie with at least one of them , pleeeassseeee!!!!
REPORTER 1: For goodness sake, FO-CUS!!! And now we will see the spectacular Olympic torch making its appearance by the hand of one of the most amazing athletes of all time.
ATHLETE 1: (falling on the floor and standing up immediately) I’m fine, I’m fine… oops! This thing lit off….
ATHLETE 2: OH please you are so clumsy!.. give me that!
(ATHLETE 2 lights the torch back on and gives it to ATHLETE 3)
ATHLETE 3: What is wrong with this thing? It does not light on.
ATHLETE 2, pointing at ATHLETE 1 :This is all your fault, because of your clumsiness!
ATHLETE 1: Excuse me! I only let the torch fall, not the cauldron, give it to me! (he turns it back on) do you see is not that hard. (everybody applauds)
REPORTER 2: OMG the cauldron is on! This is so exciting, I’m going to cry!.. now can I take a selfie with the guys?
REPORTER 1: UGHH… (everybody leaves the room)








ACT III THE SOCCER GAME (6 BOYS)

REPORTER 3: Good evening everybody, we are here, broadcasting live from the soccer field, the final game where the most famous players are reunited to show their magnificent skills. Hi ! How are you feeling today?
REPORTER 4: How do I feel?? Bored! I was retired in my bungalow in Maui, when these people made me come back to comment in this game…I’m tired of soccer, I want to go home. Here we have the stars Neymar and Pogba Neymar, Pogba, please, give us your impression about the games.
NEYMAR: Obrigado! This has been the dream of my life; I always wanted to play in the games with the best soccer stars in the world. Muito contento.
POGBA: Of course, you are playing with me! How do you plan to beat me? How did you get in shape?
NEYMAR: Easy! I carried a lot of buckets of water, ate a lot of steaks, and of course, hiked up and down the favela in Rio .It was hard, but it paid off.
POGBA: Yeah, sure! You asked me about my impression: I’M GOING TO WIN! And I make it every year as well. What can I say? I am the best…
REPORTER 4: Yeah, yeah, you’re the best! And still, you national team hasn’t won an important championship like EVER? How will you do that?
POGBA: It is not necessary to hurt my feelings, that has been bad luck. We don’t have to do much, it is enough just by having me.
REPORTER 3: OK… thank you, guys. Back to the studio.  
PIQUÉ: Do you see, Suarez? Those two are all getting all the attention from the media. We should do something about it.
SUAREZ: that’s not a problem for me. I can bite any player in a game any time I have the chance. I can get suspended, but it works.
HAZARD: Come on, man! Do you really want to be suspended? You have to be like me, I’m the best of my team, and I’m happily married with children.
PIQUÉ: is that all you got? I have been the best player of my league, the best club in UEFA, and many other distinctions.
SUAREZ: Pique, be realistic. That good for a while, but what really pays off is to be controversial… trust me…
HAZARD: Pique, don’t you listen to this guy. Did you see his tantrum in Copa America? Trust me, he’s going to do the same thing here in the Olympics.   (the three players leave the room discussing)



ACT IV THE BASKETBALL GAME
REPORTER 1: We’re back with all the special events in these Olympic Games. We have the amazing basket stars Le Bron James, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry. How are you people?
LE BRON JAMES: We feel awesome! My team just won the NBA Championship, and it’s the best feeling ever!
STEPHEN CURRY: ok, ok, your defeated my team, but these are the Olympics. So, stop bragging, man.
KEVIN DURANT: relax, man. My team didn’t make it at all, but I don’t care. These games are going to rock!
KLAY THOMPSON: man, you don’t understand. Have you ever felt like having the victory in your hands and  Pfffff! It goes away! It’s the worst feeling ever!!
REPORTER 2: Oh My God! It’s so exciting to meet you, guys! Can I take a selfie with you?
LE BRON JAMES: Absolutely! But you should take it only with me, since I am also the most valuable player in the NBA.
KLAY THOMPSON: please! Remember these are the Olympics. Get over the NBA! We are supposed to be a team!
KEVIN DURANT: Why don’t you take with me? I have been Most Valuable Player and Player of the Year. And I don’t talk about NBA.
STEPHEN CURRY: Hey people, let’s do something: let’s make an exhibition of the game to prove the others that we are the best team! The one with the most medals in the history of the Olympics!
(the players make an exhibition of the game)










ACT V – THE TENNIS GAME
REPORTER 3: And here we are again, this time with the best ranked tennis players of the world, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.  Welcome to the games, guys!
ANDY MURRAY: we feel very excited! This has been a major experience, even better than being the first British player in more than 70 years to win Wimbledon.
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Sure! Even better than winning Roland Garros championship. It was against you, by the way.
ANDY MURRAY: well, you should not be that confident. Right now you are # 1 and I am # 2 in the ATP ranking, but that can easily change.
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: It won’t change, I can assure you. I’m at my best in physical shape and focus.
ANDY MURRAY: ok then, may the best player win!
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Absolutely! I’m more than ready!!
REPORTER 4: My goodness, these games are getting too long. Now we have the girls in the court, Serena Williams and Garbiñe Muguruza. Welcome girls! How are you preparing for the game?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Well, I’m doing my best to get in a better shape than I competed in Roland Garros. I won’t let this girl defeat me again.
GARBIÑE MUGURUZA: Please, Serena. I have never known a better shaped girl than you; maybe I’m better playing on clay court than you.
SERENA WILLIAMS: Oh, now I feel better! I can beat you at any kind of court I play on.
GARBIÑE MUGURUZA: Ok, no problem! But let me tell you, girl, I just wanted you to know you have been my inspiration through all these years.
SERENA WILLIAMS: Oh, thank you. But, just for the record, I’m not that old, ok?
GARBIÑE MUGURUZA: of course not! I know! But, still, I want to be like you when I’m older, haha!
REPORTER 3: Hahaha, these girls are hilarious! Could you make an exhibition of your game for us?
REPORTER 4: No, no, please, we have to go have lunch! Ok… let’s see what you got
(the boys and the girls make an exhibition and leave the room)






ACT VI – THE GYMNASTICS COMPETITION
REPORTER 1: Now we’re live from the gymnasium where the most famous athletes are getting ready for their competition, Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles! Good evening, girls!
GABBY/SIMONE: Good morning!
REPORTER 2: Let`s focus, “No Selfies”. But still it’s so exciting to see you! What can you remember from London 2012?
GABBY: My God! That was an awesome experience! I was a gold medalist individual and with my girls of the U. S. team. Amazing!
SIMONE: Well, I haven’t been at the Olympics game yet, this would be my first time. But I have done many other things in gymnastics.
GABBY: Really? Like What?
SIMONE: I have been 5 years in a row in the Secret U.S. Classic, in the P & G championships, and in the World Championships.
GABBY: Oh. God! I think I underestimated you. Looks like I’m going to have a rough competition this year, aren’t I?
SIMONE: Yes, you are, so, watch it!
(The two girls make an exhibition of gymnastics and leave)












ACT VII – THE ATHLETICS COMPETITION
REPORTER 3: And here we are at the race track where 3 of the fastest athletes of the world are in struggle for the glory: Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Shelly Ann Fraser, and Yolimar Rojas. Welcome guys!
USAIN : Thanks! This has been incredible for the three of us. I dedicate all my victories to my country: JAMAICAAAA!!!
YOHAN: I follow the steps of my man Usain, because no one can beat him on the track. But still we feel happy to be part of this!
SHELLY ANN: I feel so honored to be the only woman to represent my country in the games. It’s a blast!
REPORTER 4: Well, it is impossible not to feel caught by that energy. Even I am excited for you, and I didn’t even want to come. What about you, Yolimar? How do you feel today?
YOLIMAR: Go figure, I am the only Venezuelan girl to represent my country in the games. This is something my people really needs in these times of despair.
USAIN: Wow! It’s such a victory for you just being here and doing your best! You know, I’m the fastest, but still I wish you the best! (to the audience) I am a nice person…!
YOHAN: I agree! If my country had all those problems your country has, I don’t know if it would be possible for all of us to be here.
SHELLY ANN: Way to go, girl! People in your country must be very proud of you!
YOLIMAR: Thanks, guys! You make me feel very proud and honored!
(the four athletes leave the room running)










ACT VIII - ABC SPORTS
REPORTER 1: good afternoon! Welcome to our show. Today we have an exclusive coverage of the Olympic Games, this time with two of the best Venezuelan athletes: the swimmer Yanel Pinto and the fencer gold medalist Ruben Limardo. Welcome guys!
RUBEN: thank you, Matt, it is a pleasure to be here.
YANEL: good afternoon, Matt. Thank you for your invitation.
REPORTER 2: first of all we wanted to know some highlights of your career. Ladies first, of course!
YANEL: Well, I have been gold medalist in the Central American Games, participant in the Games of Mayagüez in 2010. I was also in the World Championship in Melbourne, Australia.
RUBEN: I won gold medals in Mayagüez, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro and London. I hope I can accomplish the same goals this year; it’s been a major effort!
REPORTER 1: Wow, it’s amazing! How do you prepare for these competitions?
RUBEN: first of all, I sleep well, I have a very balanced diet, and I don’t’ drink alcohol o smoke cigarettes, and I always have a very positive perspective of life.
YANEL: I train a lot during the week, and, as my fellow colleague Ruben, I do my best to have a healthy way of life. It’s very important.
REPORTER 2: indeed! Thank you very much for your presence here in the studio. Goodbye to our amazing audience, see you next time!





ACT IX – THE CLOSING CEREMONY
REPORTER 1: after a whole month of competitions, we are here to witness the ending of this edition of the Olympic Games 2016
REPORTER 2: and now we will see how the Olympic cauldron is turned off. A very emotional moment.
REPORTER 3: we salute all the athletes present in this ceremony. Say hello to all the people in the world!!!
REPORTER 4: after all, it’s been a pleasure for all of us to be part of this event. See you again in four years, goodbye!!!!
